Asking For Help (In Your Culture)

In the video clip below, Epic Leadership Development Team member Margaret Yu talks about the importance of asking for help, and building a team of advisors and mentors to help you to lead and live well.

Asking For Help:

Discussion Questions:

  • How do you and your team/community view asking for help?  What role does your cultural background play?
  • In your culture, how much do you feel a sense of “reciprocity” (i.e. if you help me, I’m indebted to do something in return)?  If so, how do you navigate that as a Christian?
  • Think of the last time you were faced with a big decision in your life or ministry, or faced a crisis.  Were you alone, or did you have a team of advisors you went to?
  • Discuss two areas of leadership and life you want help in? (i.e. emotional growth, prayer, failing well, servant leadership, etc.) Think of two people in your life who you might ask to help you with this.
