Batsa* is a Christian student in a predominantly Hindu nation in South Asia. As far as he knew, he was the only Christian on his entire campus – can you imagine how that felt? A small, five-day Launch Trip team consisting of Americans and locals visited his school recently and met him as classes were changing. They talked with him for several minutes, and with sadness in his voice he shared, “I know I am the only one (Christian). I’ve asked many people on this campus if they are a Christian, and everyone is Hindu.” One of the launch team members, a local student volunteer, walked through the Key Volunteer Challenge with him. When Batsa was asked to write out his God-given vision for his campus, he wrote “That there would be a Christian fellowship of students on campus to read the Bible together and also share with our friends.”
As the Launch Trip team was finishing up their day, they found two more Christians on Batsa’s campus! God was at work! They texted Batsa to come immediately so they could introduce him to them. When he was asked what it was like to find other Christians at his school, he said “It was like finding another family member. I was very delighted. It also helped me to try and fulfill my vision.”
Batsa and his new friends have been introduced to other Christian students in the area and are being coached by local Cru staff to launch movements on their campuses.
