What is Cru?

Cru exists to journey together with every person toward a meaningful relationship with God and others.

How will my child benefit from Cru in High School?

Community
The high school culture is all about inclusion. Cru invites all students to their events, and offers those who want to get further involved the opportunity to deepen their faith, express their faith, and grow in leadership.

Caring adults
It’s been said that young people need five significant others in their lives on their way to being mature healthy adults.. That’s why we seek, at the first opportunity, to meet you, the parents or guardians of students involved. Together, we build a caring community around our young people.

Getaways
Several times a year, Cru offers experiences for students that go beyond the high school campus. We offer camp/retreat experiences twice a year, where students have a ton of fun, and also learn how to become a leader on their campus. We also offer global excursions for students ready to make their faith known to others in different countries.

Who is Steven Halcomb?

Hey! I’m Steven Halcomb and I am originally from San Diego, California.  When I was a freshman at Poway High School in 2006, I was invited to be a part of a guys’ Bible study with Cru, and little did I know at that time how much Cru would have an impact on my life.  Over the next four years, I was involved in just about every Cru event I could go to, and because of that I was able to develop a very strong foundation in my faith while making life-long friendships.  After getting settled in Oklahoma City in 2017, I felt led to start a guys’ Bible study similar to the one I was involved in back in high school, hoping that eventually it would turn into a full Cru ministry.  Thankfully, God provided amazing volunteer leaders along with an eager group of students, and Cru Oklahoma City was officially launched in January of 2018. I am currently part time field staff with Cru and plan on joining full time staff this coming January.  I am extremely excited to see what God does through our students and I can’t wait to see more lives being changed!

Who is Addison Bowlin?

Hi. My name is Addison Bowlin. I grew up in Sapulpa, OK and moved to Norman, OK in 2014. I graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 2018 with a bachelors in communication. I got involved with Cru my freshman year at OU and started volunteering with Cru High School my senior year. High School ministry is scarce in Oklahoma so it has been an honor to share the gospel with students in all walks of life. I am excited to see how God transforms this ministry in the years to come.

Thanks for checking us out!

It’s always encouraging to know that there are others reinforcing the values that we have sought to instill. Our Cru ministries and events are designed to do just that.

Teenagers have plenty of questions about God, how to own their faith, and just about life in general. We are here to listen and walk with the students of our community, and help them to process life through the lens of Scripture. Our aim in doing so is that they are led to Jesus, and that they can help others find hope in Him as well.

So please, roam around the site and feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
