“I have never heard about Jesus. This is all new to me.” Those are words you would not expect to hear from a student in Europe. And yet many Icelandic students have never heard the truth about Jesus. Despite the primary denomination of the island being The Evangelical Lutheran Church, Iceland is often described as the most godless nation in Europe. Only about 0.03% of the population consider themselves to be evangelical, which in Iceland’s population adds up to around 200 people.
Because of the dark spiritual climate and the growing belief that Christianity is a relic of the past, consistent, relevant evangelism and discipleship is needed. That requires an investment of time. There is currently no Cru student ministry presence in Iceland. Come be a light in a dark nation! Consider investing a year of your life in order to launch a movement by surfacing, equipping, and coaching students to make Jesus known on their campuses.
