Christian Stories About Helping Others

Bold Faith, Bigger God

Looking back on my five-month journey as a CATALYST intern, I have seen how God has grown me to be bolder in sharing my faith and given me the privilege of witnessing His work on campuses both locally and overseas. Along the way, He taught me many lessons—from surrendering my unbelief in support-raising to stepping out in faith amid uncertainty, and learning what it truly means to serve others.

During my month-long stay in Korea, I experienced firsthand what it means to live a life of servanthood—modelled so clearly by Caleb and Xiang, the missionary couple who hosted me during my stay. I saw how they relentlessly interceded and shared the gospel with students, always with humility and genuine love. I also gained a fresh perspective on the reality of urban missions, which involves sowing into the less tangible needs of those we serve—such as spiritual hunger, loneliness, or the search for purpose.

Travelling to Taiwan on a BeyondBorders* mission trip with university students stretched me in adaptability and reinforced the importance of trusting God through unexpected circumstances. My eyes were opened to the deep need for the gospel in this part of the world, and my understanding of ministry was reshaped. I came to see that ministry is really about submitting to God’s plans above our own, and about serving with a heart that goes beyond numbers and efficiency.

It was a joyful experience to serve alongside the Nanyang Technological University (NTU) campus ministry staff team. I was blessed by the friendships formed with both NTU Cru staff and students, and inspired by how the students live out their faith in the midst of busy university life. Experiencing this even before entering university has convicted me to set my mind on things above (Colossians 3:2) and to use my upcoming four years of studies to be a faithful witness for God and a steward of His love.

Looking back, this internship with Cru has been a privilege I will always treasure. It has deepened my walk with God, broadened my horizons to see His heart for the youth, and encouraged me to remain faithful to Him in the days of my youth (Ecclesiastes 12:1).
