Introduction to Codependency & Emotional Dependency

Codependency (CD) and emotional dependency (ED) can cause a lot of distress in our relationships.

The unhealthy dynamics in these relationships may hinder us from being emotionally healthy and prevent us from cultivating a secure sense of self or a secure attachment style.

If you feel like you have issues with codependency or emotional dependency, have lots of compassion for yourself. There are good reasons why.

As a recovered codependent myself, I had experienced the negative impacts codependency, and I have also witnessed the pain of many I journeyed with, who struggled with CD & ED. I realised how important this topic is & I'm really excited to share with you what I have learnt that has been helpful in overcoming CD & ED for those of you who are desiring growth and change.

Overcoming CD & ED is totally possible! Just as you can change your attachment styles from insecure to secure, it is possible to also learn how to heal from the root causes of CD & ED, and learn skills to help you cultivate healthy & fulfilling relationships.

We hope this new series will be helpful to you & many out there!

Healing from Codependency and Emotional Dependency

Healing from Codependency (CD) and Emotional Dependency (ED) is possible but first one needs to recognise the symptoms to realise that it is a problem to continue to live with these symptoms. Please learn more about CD and ED from our series of reels under "Introduction to CD and ED" at cru.sg/cded first.

The reason why many continue to stay in unhealthy codependent or emotionally dependent relationships is a lack of awareness of what are the root issues and causes that drive these unhealthy behaviours in relationships. Only with awareness can we begin to heal and change.

Healing will involve going back to heal the attachment injuries and adverse experiences in childhood of shame, rejection and abandonment that have caused us to develop unhealthy attachment styles in relationships. We will also need to learn now what it means to draw boundaries in order to cultivate healthy relationships.

It is possible to learn how to begin to have self-compassion, to learn to draw boundaries, to love ourselves is possible. If you are interested to find out more about how to heal from CD and ED, check out these series of reels. Please help us share these resources to those who may find them helpful.

Reviews & Testimonials

The program helps heal and allows one to understand one's issues truly. I have tried different counsellors and institutions but none helped me solve or truly understood me until I met (my counsellor). I am lucky and thankful to have gone through this journey with her and ThriveSg. I have grown exponentially as a person, ...
