Today, more than ever, the world needs godly men. Men who will step up and courageously lead at home, at church, at work, and in their communities. That’s the message of Stepping Up. In a world where too many men are shrinking back, Stepping Up gives men vision and tools to live godly, courageous lives..

What is Stepping Up?

Calling Men to Courageous Manhood

Men today are in a battle. It’s a battle without bullets or bombs, but a battle all the same. It’s a fight for our families and our future. Facing the battles of life demands courage, and courage is the ability to do the hard thing in every circumstance, despite the cost. Winston Churchill said,

“There comes into the life of every man a task for which he and he alone is uniquely suited. What a shame if that moment finds him either unwilling or unprepared for that which would become his finest hour.”

In Stepping Up Dennis Rainey, cofounder of FamilyLife®, calls men to courageous manhood, offering a powerful vision for what it means to be a man today who truly conquers and wins in life. He defines courage throughout the five stages of manhood and commissions men to honestly evaluate where they stand. Then, he prepares men to bravely master their life purpose by developing a strategic plan and establishing a winning vision.

Stepping Up features over twenty renowned ministry leaders who challenge men to dig deep into what it means to live godly and courageous lives and present transferable concepts for applying the teachings to life. The video sessions also feature man-on-the-street interviews, humorous vignettes, and engaging personal stories that bring home the truths in memorable ways.

Testimonies of men attest Stepping Up can have life-changing impact. Since Stepping Up released in 2012, more than 200,000 have participated in the event or series, with 98 percent* saying they would recommend it to other men. (Based on a 2014 online survey of men who hosted or led a Stepping Up video event or video series.)

Facilitated by experienced mentors, the Stepping Up video series dives deep into the topic of biblical manhood, calling every man to reject passivity and step up to lead with courage in all areas of life.

In ten sessions, participants of this men’s small-group study will be challenged to strengthen bonds with fellow group members, form godly habits, claim more personal victories, share testimonies and ongoing experiences, establishing accountability with other men.

Participants' comments

"Stepping Up has redefined what manhood is for me. The course touched on the roles and responsibilities of man in a Biblical context. This has been a wake-up call for me." Yezhong Xu (Father of 1 girl)

"Stepping Up has been a blessing for my personal growth and maturity as the course provides us a with a sturdy and transparent platform for participants to learn and share with one another." Ben Ho (Father of 2 boys)

"Stepping Up has shown me that men ought to be courageous to do what men are called by God to do in the face of resistance from within and without." Wen xing Li (Father of 3 boys)

"The community of men and the safe space, together with raw and vulnerable sharing without judgement impacted me." Rich Yu

"Stepping Up helped me realise the need to take the initiative to lead my family by God's leading. I must take the role of a husband seriously. God wants husbands to be the spiritual leader of our family. I will use this material to disciple other men." Imro Strok (married 20 years)

"I enjoyed the definition of courage, as it is something that we have not thought about. Aside from that, the videos provided clear examples on how to go through the real life scenarios. I think I am able to better grasp the concept of a marriage, and God's purpose of a spouse." Wong Say Jon (married 2 years)
