Sports Photographer Shares Faith
Athletes in Action®’s mission is to reach college and professional athletes for Christ, build them in their faith, and equip and send them to reach other athletes for Christ. They invite college athletes from the U.S. to use the sports they love and the skills they’ve learned to reach international teams and athletes through summer mission trips.
Last summer, Megan Strunk, a sports photographer at Cedarville University in Ohio, joined an AIA® softball trip to Thailand. While she excelled at capturing how God worked on the trip through her camera lens, she found herself facing a personal challenge: the invitation to participate in the team’s evangelism. Feeling unready and unskilled, she stepped back from a few opportunities to share her faith. Yet, on the final day, she stepped out courageously to tell her faith story, and an entire team of 12 middle-school baseball players prayed and received Christ!
“Sharing the gospel with a baseball team in Thailand showed me firsthand that God’s power isn’t dependent on my perfect words,” Megan said. “As they prayed and committed their lives to Christ, I was reminded that He is the one working through me to draw them to Himself. I’ll never turn down an opportunity to share the gospel again!”
Having seen God work through her, Megan started a Bible study with several Cedarville and Central State softball players from the trip. She is also working with our SportLink team to launch AIA at Cedarville.
