Jesus Film Project® Impact Stories

Stewart, a staff member with Jesus Film Project®, entered a virtual reality (VR) world and walked up to a computer. Clicking “Join,” a Pikachu avatar from Pokémon popped up on the screen. Stewart quickly realized he was talking with a young teen, maybe 14 or 15. “Hey! I’m going around doing something kind of weird. I’m asking people deep questions. Are you game? If God was real and you could ask Him one question, what would it be?” The teen, whose name was Mark*, had an answer instantly, but he was struggling to say it. After a few seconds, he said, “I would ask Him to bring my mom back.” They sat. They talked. About a half hour passed. Mark said he believed in God but had never heard the good news — what God has done. Stewart began sharing the gospel. He was nearing the end, and Mark cut him off mid-sentence: “THAT IS AMAZING NEWS!”

Stewart could tell Mark was crying, and it caught him off guard. He responded, “It is amazing news! Would you like to believe in that starting right now?” “I’d love to.” “Let’s pray and tell God what you now believe.”

Stewart opened: “God, I’m thankful for Mark. I’m thankful we can go to You in prayer without having to worry about saying the right thing or saying the wrong thing. God, I just want to open up this time for Mark to tell you what he now believes.” Mark jumped in and expressed his choice to accept Jesus as Savior, thanking God each step of the way.

In a remote village where a variety of religious beliefs are held, Nadia* saw the “JESUS” film in her heart language, along with dozens of other villagers. Even though she had trouble seeing the film because of her nearsightedness, she watched and listened with great attentiveness.

“I’m happy that even though I don’t see clearly, I can hear clearly every conversation in the [local language] ‘JESUS’ film,” Nadia shared. “I want to take a step to believe in Jesus Christ.”

Nadia trusted Christ as her Lord and Savior — and she also trusted He would restore her vision. Though she was happy to simply hear the gospel story, she can now see the story of Christ on screen too because God graciously restored her sight!
