The Cost of Discipleship
Nour* is a passionate young woman who responded to one of Cru®’s evangelistic Facebook pages. Eager to grow spiritually, Nour quickly devoured the four Gospels in a week and committed to reading the entire Bible in less than a year. She joined Cru’s discipleship group and, when challenged to share the gospel with three people, she had already done so — one friend has accepted Christ, and two others are still asking questions. However, Nour’s bold faith has come at great personal cost. Her family confiscated her Christian materials and placed her under religious observation, including forced sessions with religious leaders. She was taken to the leaders to pray over her, hoping to remove the “magic” they believed was causing her curiosity about Christianity. She was placed in religion lessons at an institute. But Nour told Cru staff that she feels God may be using her to make one of the leaders think differently — he listened closely to her responses and wasn’t aggressive. She said no matter what happens, she won’t change her mind about following Jesus.
