2023 All-Star Breakfast Celebrates Character and Leadership During NBA All-Star Weekend

Award Recipients Include Milwaukee Bucks GM Jon Horst and Former Professional Player Claude Terry

February 9, 2023

During NBA All-Star Weekend, the 16th annual All-Star Breakfast will bring together basketball legends, coaches and fans to celebrate what it means to have character and leadership on and off the court.

Hosted by Athletes in Action, the All-Star Breakfast jump-starts the day of the NBA All-Star Game on Feb. 18, 2023 with the presentation of the Jerry Colangelo and Bobby Jones Awards.

“Each year we get the opportunity to celebrate some of the greatest people who have impacted the game of basketball,” said Mark Householder, president of Athletes in Action. “We want to honor what it means to exhibit great leadership, character, faith and achievement not only in basketball but also in the community.”

The Jerry Colangelo Award recognizes someone in NBA management who displays excellent character and leadership in all areas of life. The 2023 Jerry Colangelo Award winner is Milwaukee Bucks General Manager Jon Horst. Horst was named NBA Executive of the Year in 2019, and the Milwaukee Bucks earned the NBA Championship in 2021.

The Bobby Jones Award recognizes a former NBA player who lives an exemplary life on the basketball court and in the community. The 2023 Bobby Jones Award winner is Claude Terry, who played professionally in both the American Basketball Association (ABA) and the National Basketball Association (NBA), was an ABA All-Star in 1976, was All Big 8 while playing at his alma mater, Stanford University, in 1972, and played alongside Bobby Jones in Denver.

Past award recipients include Ernie Johnson, Clark Kellogg and Mark Price, among others. This year’s All-Star Breakfast will also feature Luther Ellis, assistant coach for the University of Utah, and former University of Utah football All-American and two-time NFL All-Pro, as emcee.
