Maritime Life Ministry: A Ministry Where Faith Meets the Sea

Every ship carries more than cargo, it also carries people, stories, and opportunities for the Gospel to be shared.

The maritime industry is more than ships and seafaring. It is also a mission field filled with seafarers, employees, and leaders who can be reached and discipled for Christ. And Maritime Life, a ministry that’s building leaders in the industry to impact the world for Christ, is responding to this opportunity through its WIN, BUILD, and SEND strategy. Reaching people wherever they are in their workplace, building them in their faith, and sending them out to make an impact wherever God leads them.

One significant worship avenue that the Maritime Life created is the Cadet Christian Fellowship (CCF), where cadets gather for worship, prayer, and discipleship. Around 30 cadets attend Sunday worship services, while discipleship groups continue to develop engaged and multiplying disciples.

The ministry also equips cadets to carry their faith beyond campus. Nine cadet seafarers were trained and commissioned to share the gospel as they go on their nine months of onboard training, with the purpose of helping fulfill the Great Commission. One seafarer has already shared the Gospel with a shipmate, showing how discipleship can be done in their workplace.

Beyond discipleship, the ministry creates opportunities for Gospel conversations through evangelistic talks, financial literacy sessions, vision retreats, and leadership training. A recent evangelism training and basic NLTC also equipped cadets to share the Gospel and practice doing so with others.

These are reasons to praise God as the ministry continues! With Maritime Life, the mission is to make Christ known, go and make disciples, and send them to reach others. God is raising disciples and leaders within the maritime community who will carry the Gospel, make disciples, and help others encounter Christ wherever their work takes them.
