Way back in 2023, after I graduated from K-12, I took an entrance exam at USTP. I prayed for one month for a good result because USTP was my dream school.
But in July 2023, when the list of passers was released, my name was not there. I cried because USTP was my dream school. My parents told me that I should stop for one year because they could not afford the tuition if I went to a private school. At that time, my kuya was also taking his board exam in Cebu. I felt hopeless during that season because I really wanted to go to college.
But about a week after the results were released, there was an announcement that they would open a request letter for students who wanted to enter the school. So, we submitted a request letter, and after a week, our request was approved.
We were so grateful for the approval of the Chancellor. Because of that, I was able to enter USTP and join the Week of Freshies.
During that time, I met Kuya Nathan. He asked me to join a Bible study, but I refused. It took about five rejections because I was not willing to join. But there was a time when he asked me again, and his excuse was, “There is food in the office—kainan.”
I was hungry and exhausted after school, so I joined.
I didn't expect that he would share the 4SL booklet with me. Through that conversation, I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior on October 18, 2023.
After that, I joined the activities of Cru, and they helped me grow more in the Lord. I was doing well in serving God in the ministry. I was able to share the Gospel with my parents and my classmates.
I was also challenged to become a Student Coordinator in Cru USTP, and I would say that it is truly God's faithfulness in my life. Through all these things, I began to see my purpose in life.
I was not able to pass the entrance exam, but because of God's plan, I was accepted into USTP. Now, I am already a 4th-year student.
Looking back, I can see that God had a greater plan than what I had planned for myself.
I am Jayson Arnado. Glory and honor belong to the Lord.
