There are moments that don't make headlines but quietly change eternity.
A simple prayer whispered in faith.
A decision made in obedience.
A "yes" spoken to God that echoes through generations.
At the Cru Philippines Calling Celebration, those quiet moments took center stage.
It was more than an event. It was hearing stories of ordinary men and women who chose to trust an extraordinary God. As missionaries, staff, and families came together, the room became a living testimony of God's faithfulness across decades. There were smiles, tears, embraces, and countless reminders that every life surrendered to Christ has a story worth celebrating.
Among those honored was a woman whose journey has spanned 50 years of full-time missionary service. Ate Lorna Dumaguing took everyone back to where it all began.
In 1973, after receiving Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, everything changed.
"I saw the beauty of an obedient life... a life of faith," she recalled.
What followed wasn't a life free from uncertainty, but one marked by daily surrender. Through countless quiet times with God, she learned to recognize His voice. She gradually stepped out of her comfort zone, choosing God's purpose over her own plans.
Her involvement with Cru opened her eyes to Christ's call to labor in His harvest field. Then came a defining moment during the Leadership Training Institute.
"In 1976, 50 years ago, I made that decision and said to my God, 'Here I am, Lord. Send me.'"
Half a century later, that single response continues to bear fruit, not only in the lives she has personally reached but also in the generations of disciples and missionaries inspired by her faithfulness. Her story reminded everyone in the room that God doesn't simply call people for a season. He faithfully walks with those who continue saying "yes" day after day, year after year.
And beside this remarkable legacy stood another beautiful beginning. A newly commissioned missionary, Jonamy Oxales, shared her first months on the field in Western Visayas. Stepping into unfamiliar territory could have been intimidating. Instead, God gave her a front-row seat to His work.
"During my first two months as a New Staff Trainee in Western Visayas, the Lord allowed me to witness a disciple take a step of faith in sharing the gospel with her roommate, and another disciple begin her first follow-up with her classmate. Seeing these moments was truly affirming. Even in an unfamiliar place, the Lord goes ahead of me. He is able to do far more than I could ask or imagine."
Her testimony echoed the very same truth that had sustained the 50-year missionary: God always goes before those He calls.
One story reflected five decades of faithful obedience.
The other captured the excitement of a journey just beginning.
Together, they painted a beautiful picture of God's kingdom, a mission passed from one generation to the next. One "yes" inspiring another. One faithful life encourages countless others to trust God's leading.
The Calling Celebration became more than a recognition ceremony. It became a reminder that God's faithfulness never expires, His calling never loses its purpose, and His mission continues through hearts willing to respond.
Some have walked with Him for fifty years.
Others are only taking their first steps.
Yet every story begins the same way, with a heart willing to say,
"Here I am, Lord. Send me."
