Ministry Partner testimony - Jonathan Lim

As a person, Jonathan said that without God, he would probably be a hard man; pride and bitterness would have consumed his life. There are numerous things that he wouldn’t enjoy and experience because there was a point in his life where everything revolved around money and success. Walking in the path of triumph that his father had, he wanted to reach the top and devoted himself to the pursuit of money. However, he desired to be successful— much more successful than his father— without any support. This seed of pride was planted in his heart. 

However, because of his pride, the Lord did not allow his goals to succeed. With this, he joined his father in their textile business and became a member of their company. Then, during the height of their success, they had to close the business because of society’s economic problems. This was when they started their paper business. It was not a linear process to make back the money they had lost. In fact, they were not doing well because of their unfamiliarity with how the paper business works. 

Because of this, he decided to partner with their competitor, who is a christian. They merged their business to create better methods and procedures. During this time, his business partner continuously invited him to church. Little by little, he understood who Jesus really is and how he gave His life for people. Then in 1999, Jonathan finally accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior. 

Their business was still not doing well. There were loans unpaid and problems that needed to be settled. Then, Jonathan decided to invest in the Lord by tithing. He gave away his full salary and trusted God in this situation. By the grace of God, they were able to pay all of their debts. His investment in the paper business grew during the peak of their family business crisis, which was all because God is faithful and a provider even in hard times. God fulfilled His promises. 

When asked, Jonathan Lim answered that he decided to be a ministry partner because of God’s blessing. More specifically, it is all by God’s grace, faithfulness, and miracles he personally witnessed in his life. He believed that a lot of good things happened not because of his own effort, but because of God’s power and glory. 

He firmly believes that there is no coincidence in God. His plans are all for the greater good of His people, and He will continue to do miracles in the lives of those who have faith in Him. 

Being a ministry partner is very important to Jonathan because it gives him the avenue to give back and become a blessing to others. It also helps him to become part of the Great Commission and to see what God can do in the expansion of His kingdom. Through Cru, Jonathan expressed his gratitude for participating in the mission by partnering with the people who dare to go beyond their comfort zone and be on the field. He stated that although he cannot be physically present in the mission, he is grateful to support those who are being sent out.
