An Ordinary Moment, An Eternal Purpose

Article - article-student-testimony-ph-02

Growing up, Jayvee was active in religious communities. He served as a summer Bible study teacher, received the “Best in Verse Memorization” award, and ranked 1st in his age group in a Bible study. He was active in a Christ-centered community, but his life was controlled by society. However, Jayvee later realized that he was serving for himself rather than for God. He thought that religion would give him an abundant life, which was why going to church on Sundays became something he did simply because it was “Sunday,” rather than intentionally serving and worshipping the Lord. He knew about Jesus, but he did not truly know Him personally.

On the first day of Jayvee’s first year in college, Cru was giving away free ice cream as part of their welcome activity. While he was eating, the Cru community shared the Gospel with him. And that simple ice cream treat became the reason Jayvee was introduced to Cru and eventually became part of the community. God used something as ordinary as ice cream to begin changing his heart. Jayvee always testifies, “A cold ice cream saved him from the fire of hell.” As his discipler Johndy Lumayog, a staff from a Cru, patiently walked with him and helped him realize that following Jesus is not about religion, but about having a personal relationship with Him and genuine faith in Christ. Although Jayvee often made excuses to avoid meeting with him, God continued to pursue his heart through his discipler.

Everything changed when Jayvee joined Operation Jabez (OJ). Even though he struggled with confidence in sharing the Gospel and experienced rejection while doing so, God used his experiences to deepen his faith. During the OJ, he served in the kids’ ministry, heard testimonies, and shared the Gospel himself. These experiences helped him understand what it truly means to follow Christ. Most importantly, Jayvee was given the chance to attend the Korea CCC Summer Conference in June 2026. This opened his heart to learning about the lives of missionaries throughout the history of South Korea and helped him develop the same vision of reaching his campus and making Jesus known for His glory.

Since then, his mindset has changed. Jayvee now desires to do everything for Jesus, intentionally worship Him, confidently share the Gospel, and make disciples. He has seen God’s faithfulness, provision, and purpose throughout his life. He is truly grateful to know Jesus and to serve Him as his Lord and Savior.
