Stories

Back to School Campaign 2026

As part of Cru’s Back-to-School Campaign, campus teams were provided with the new JOURNEY TOGETHER materials to help them connect with students and create opportunities for gospel conversations. Across different campuses, missionaries shared how these simple materials became helpful tools in their mission field. From sparking conversations and building relationships to making Cru more visible and welcoming on campus. Here are some of their stories:

Elegin Marcos, a missionary reaching Eastern Visayas, shared how the ID laces, pins, and ballers caught students’ attention during Eastern Visayas State University’s (EVSU) Charter Week, opening doors for gospel conversations and invitations to Cru events Two freshmen eventually joined their Family Time, while others attended their Sem Starter Event. The team also gave merch to Cru student members as a token of appreciation for their efforts in reaching new students.

For Nancy Lapez, a missionary assigned to UP Diliman, the statement cards became a simple but effective tool for reaching out to students. The cards helped her team approach students, get to know them, and naturally start conversations about their lives and faith. These conversations became  opportunities to listen to students’ perspectives, go deeper into spiritual topics, and eventually share the gospel.

In the De La Salle University community, Miles Sangoyo, a missionary reaching the campus, shared how they used the materials during events such as Real Connections and their inter-campus fellowships with the Manila campuses. She recounted how excited the students were when they received materials, especially knowing that they were given for free. One material that stood out was the Sintra Board featuring the phrase “LET’S JOURNEY TOGETHER.” Students complimented its design and found that it helped create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for their gatherings.

Lastly, Jomari Espartinez, a missionary reaching Bicol University (BU), highlighted how the materials supported their events, including their Freshmen Welcome Party, Coffee and Conversations, and Movement Life Fellowship. The merch helped student leaders better represent Cru, while materials like the eye-catching roll-up banner helped introduce Cru to students in a simple and engaging way. Even the simple act of giving out merch became an opportunity to build relationships with the students and leave them with a tangible reminder of the Cru community.

Through the JOURNEY TOGETHER campaign, these stories show how campus teams were able to reach more students, create meaningful connections, build bridges gospel conversations and make the Cru community more approachable to students. Across different events and campuses,. the materials became practical tools for Cru missionaries and their disciples to use for engaging, connecting and creating spaces where faith could be explored thus advancing our mission on campus.
