Christy became a staff member with Cru in 1974 and began working in Boston. She served as the Associate Campus Director at the University of Massachusetts and as the Associate Area Director for New England. Steve and Christy were married in 1979. For several decades, Christy has been actively involved in developing women leaders and partnering in ministry with Steve. They have 4 married children and 9 grandchildren.
