Missional Huddle

Reulin Galan

As part of our national efforts, we’ve been holding Missional Huddles in key cities where Cru ministries are present. These gatherings are primarily designed to gather disciples, alums, and partners for vision casting, sharing movement updates, and exploring collaborative opportunities to reach our cities together.

Over the past two years, we’ve hosted Huddles in Cebu, Naga, Zamboanga, Cotabato, Baguio, Quezon City, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro, and Davao City – each one a step toward deepening unity and advancing the mission together.

In every huddle that I join in and in every report I hear from my colleagues in the National Leadership about what transpired during their regional visits, I am having a paradoxical realization of the state of the Church and the mission in the regions where we are:

  • Though the disunity among some churches was evident, the gathering was not without hope – sincere desire toward unity shone through.
  • Some who attended came thinking Cru is still solely focused on campus, and went home realizing its reach now extends beyond campuses impacting multiple sectors of society.
  • While we have access to a large pool of resources and strategies, we have come to realize that we are just a small part of what God wants as a whole (Revelations 7:9-11).

It will take the whole body to fulfillll the Great Commission.

  • Bolder dreams for reaching cities and the nation are born when individuals with personal, bite-sized visions come together.
  • As we see ministry breakthroughs and are drawn into a vision bigger than ourselves, we are compelled to depend on Him through prayer.
  • The more we desire to do great things for God, the more we become aware of our limits, leading us to recognize our vital need for Him and one another in this shared mission.

We are thankful that most of these huddles resulted in collaborative projects such as Operation Jabez (mission trips), Leadership Training Conferences, regular prayer times, retreats, sports clinics and other evangelistic efforts on campuses, in corporate settings, and in communities.

In Psalm 133, God’s blessing and life are promised when His people live together in unity. As we move forward, we anticipate diverse expressions of these huddles, shaped by the unique needs of our stakeholders (disciples, partners, alums) and target audiences. Yet amid this variety, we remain firmly committed to Christ as our foundation – the One who unites us – in forming communities that are relational, prayerful, and missional.
