When I was asked to co-host the 60th founding anniversary celebration of the Philippine Campus Crusade for Christ, now known as Cru, I didn’t hesitate, even though the event was held in Quezon City and I would be travelling from Iloilo City.
I owe much to this ministry. Through the Four Spiritual Laws, I first grasped the truth of eternal security, my biggest struggle as a college freshman. I remember the exact moment when I felt a shift in my perspective, from an insecure person to someone who found security in faith. This transformation was further nurtured through leadership training and personality development opportunities such as hosting, which started during my college days at CPU in Iloilo City.
In April 1980, my decision to join the first batch of Operation Jabez was a bold move, as it meant exchanging a lucrative job that would have been available immediately after graduating from college.
During my graduate studies at UPLB, I was entrusted with leading the UPLB Campus Crusade for Christ. From a handful of remaining members after the ministry’s collapse in the early 80s, it burgeoned into one of the most robust student movements at UPLB.
God has undoubtedly used this ministry to bring people from salvation to become spiritual multipliers in helping fulfilll the Great Commission.
Like many, I am where I am now because of the ministry of Cru. Co-hosting the ministry’s 60th anniversary event is an expression of gratitude to God’s faithfulness to me.

Win. Build. Send. This is the strategy that Campus Crusade for Christ has been imparting to those who become part of the movement. Last June 12, I joined the celebration of the 60th anniversary of Campus Crusade for Christ in the Philippines and was reminded of this strategy to win people for Jesus through personal evangelism, to build them up in their faith through intentional discipleship, and to send them to whatever mission field God appoints to fulfillll His great commission of making disciples of all nations. The theme Nations and Generations fits perfectly with Ten Days team from Victory Cainta will do in August.

What struck me most was the booths set up to showcase the various ministries, each offering different ways of sharing the faith—one body in Christ reaching diverse groups across the Philippines. The dedication and enthusiasm truly inspired me in rolling out these programs and ministries. Truly, God doesn’t call the qualified as much as the willing—it’s a beautiful sight, and I pray our great God, who empowers us, will bring many to believe.
