What are Thrive Studies?
Thrive Studies is a free online small group resource, with over 76 studies grounded in the gospel. Each study is available on the app, on the website, or to download and print. They include small group leaders training and an “idea box” where you can find creative ideas to spice up your study.
Our idea box includes videos, activities, or great illustrations that really bring the main point home. The ideas come from small group leaders like you from all over the world. If you have an idea that is not in there, just click the link titled “share an idea” on the Thrive Studies website to share it with the community!
Thrive studies cover a variety of topics that are crucial to students growing in their faith. Below is just a sample of some of the lessons.
1. The Confidence Study – Start your faith journey with some basic truth. Check out the lesson on confidence to see how our relationship with God is secure. We can be sure of our relationship with God because of what Jesus has done.
2. The Jesus Series – Build a strong foundation for a life-long journey of walking with God. In this series, you will find a study to help teens learn that Jesus is God and has the power to forgive our sins and give us a new life.
3. The Growing with God Series – Take a look at the four lessons in a series called “Growing with God,” where students can learn what is part of a great, lifelong relationship with God.
There are many more lessons, including ones about our identity in Christ, God’s view on sex, God’s character, tough questions, worldviews, what is the gospel, dealing with anxiety, the grace of God, discipling others, social justice, and more.

Why are Thrive Studies Important?
We could highlight the fact that Thrive Studies is an incredible small group resource that is gospel-centered, relevant, and free! But what really makes Thrive Studies important is what happens when a group of students gather together to study God’s Word. The Bible is not like any other book. Look at the following five verses from Psalm 19 and notice how God describes the effect the Bible can have on our lives:
Psalm 19:7-11 NIV
7 The law of the Lord is perfect,
refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.
8 The precepts of the Lord are right,
giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant,
giving light to the eyes.

When we open the Thrive Studies app with a group of students and start to study God’s Word with them, we can have faith that the Bible can revive our soul, make us wise, bring joy to our heart, give us insight for living, and more.
With Whom Can You Use Thrive Studies?
While many college students and adults are using Thrive Studies, we originally designed them to be used with teenagers. While there are many studies designed for teenagers, few of them were designed for teenagers to lead. We believe students learn best from other students, and teaching God’s Word can help someone grow more deeply in their faith. We love the dual growth that happens when students lead students.
Thrive studies are best when you can have everyone in the same room, but we have also seen a lot of success in virtual small groups. We have had students from three different states in small groups. Some students who have met each other at a summer camp or on a short-term mission have started their own Thrive Studies.
Each lesson has a leader’s guide and student notes, giving you everything you need to lead a dynamic study. You might try what many other leaders have by co-leading a group with one of your teens. There are so many ways to take Thrive Studies and start a group to study the Bible together. We believe these studies help you and your students thrive!
