Lauren grew up surrounded by people who loved Jesus, and for a long time, her life felt steady and full of joy. Living overseas brought its own challenges, though, as she often felt different from her peers. Deep down, loneliness lingered, even as she tried to focus on the good things in her life. It wasn’t until seventh grade that she began to experience faith in a personal way. Reading her Bible and talking to God became more than just a habit—it was a relationship. That sense of connection grew stronger, and Lauren was fully invested in her faith, ready to follow Jesus anywhere.
Then came COVID-19, a season marked by isolation and uncertainty. When her dad was hospitalized and eventually passed away, Lauren’s world turned upside down. The pain of loss was overwhelming, and she found herself wrestling with God. She knew He was powerful enough to heal, yet she had to confront the possibility that His plan might be different. The tension between hope and heartbreak was almost unbearable. But even in the darkest moments of grief, Lauren learned to pour out her emotions to God—her anger, sadness, and confusion—and discovered His unshakable presence. God met her with comfort, gently reminding her, “I’ve got you. Give it all to me.”
Deep down, loneliness lingered, even as she tried to focus on the good things in her life.
That season of loss, though painful, planted a deep desire in Lauren to share the hope she had found in Jesus. Despite feeling weak and uncertain, she stepped out in faith and started Cru at her high school—a space where students could come together, regardless of background, and learn about God’s love. It wasn’t easy, but God’s grace carried her. Through it all, Lauren realized that just as God saw her and met her in her pain, He sees and loves every student at her school. Her story is a testament to the truth that even in seasons of grief, God works to bring healing and inspire purpose. In Him, there’s comfort, hope, and the courage to reach out to others.
