Armenia's Khor Virap monastery sits at the foot of Mount Ararat. Some buildings date back to the 6th century.

A mountainous region landlocked between the Turkish, Russian and Persian empires, Armenia was the first state to adopt Christianity in the 4th century. Christianity remains the dominant religion, with the majority of Armenians belonging to the Armenian Apostolic Church. Religious freedom followed the collapse of the Soviet Union, but discrimination against minority religious groups persists.

About 65 percent of Madagascar's 26 million people live outside of urban areas, many in villages like Antsahasoa.

Political troubles, conflict, and corruption have long been a major problem in Madagascar, but there is officially religious freedom. Compromise with the old beliefs, veneration of ancestral spirits, and witchcraft is widespread among those who claim to be Christian, but Church growth continues in the midst of political and environmental crises. The 4 mainline churches have great influence, yet discipleship and biblical training are the greatest needs within the Church.

A Haitian boatman enters the Caribbean Sea. The country continues to recover from the 2011 earthquake.

Haiti is located in Caribbean, western one-third of the island of Hispaniola, between the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean, west of the Dominican Republic. The spiritual response to the tragedy of the 2010 earthquake was an almost universal outpouring of prayer, repentance and calling upon God for mercy and deliverance. Out of the disaster, God appears to be doing something radical and new among the people of Haiti.

Rennes, France was founded before Christ's birth. It was fully rebuilt after a 1720 fire nearly destroyed the city.

Many French people have no meaningful contact with a church and have a profound indifference to the gospel. There is surprisingly widespread involvement with occultism, and as a result of immigration, Islam has become the second religion. Yet God has been moving in a mighty way in recent years. Read a few of those stories:

Kenya's Maasai Mara National Reserve is home to more than 95 species of mammals and 570 species of birds.

Located in Eastern Africa, bordering the Indian Ocean, between Somalia and Tanzania. Kenya is a country of great ethnic diversity, and tension between the groups causes many of the problems. In the 1990s, politically instigated tribal clashes killed thousands and left tens of thousands homeless. The Protestant and indigenous churches have grown fast, but the level of human rights abuses has also been rising.

The 12th century temple of Angkor Wat, a popular Cambodian tourist destination, has become a symbol for the country.

Located in Southeastern Asia, bordering the Gulf of Thailand, Cambodia is one of the world's poorest nations. The recent history of this predominantly Buddhist country includes the 1970s when the Marxist Khmer Rouge sought to eradicate all religion; 90% of Buddhist and most Christians died. Since 1979 there have been periods of tolerance, and beginning in 1990, Christians have been allowed to worship openly. Read how God has been moving lately.

In Croatia's Plitvice Lakes National Park, 16 lakes tumble into each other via a series of waterfalls and cascades.

Croatia is located in southeastern Europe, bordering the Adriatic Sea, between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Slovenia. The deep impact of historic and recent hatred between Croat, Serb and Bosnian on every aspect of national life could continue to hamper the affected nations for generations to come. The compassionate ministry in dispensing aid, giving trauma therapy and loving those who have suffered, has won much credit for gospel.

Victoria Falls, on the Zambezi River between Zambia and Zimbabwe, is one of the world's seven natural wonders.

Zimbabwe is located in southern Africa, between South Africa and Zambia. The church has grown in numbers and passion amidst great trials in recent years. Many find refuge in spirituality and faith while churches work hard to meet the many desperate physical and social needs they encounter. The economy, education system, and health care are in a state of emergency and the AIDS pandemic in Zimbabwe is one of the world's worst cases.

There is full religious freedom in the UK. The Church of England (Anglican) and the Church of Scotland (Presbyterian) are the recognized churches in the United Kingdom. Tolerance is the 'in' word, as the influx of non-Christian religions has affected the worldview of the population. Evangelical Christians are maintaining numbers, despite church decline.

New Zealand's Southern Alps are part of the South West New Zealand (Te Wahipounamu) World Heritage Area.

Located in Oceania, southeast of Australia, New Zealand’s society is increasingly post-Christian and secular. Other religions are far less a threat to the Church than basic unbelief. Projections show that Christianity will cease to be the majority religion before 2020.
