Marc got involved with international student ministry while studying at the Colorado School of Mines. He learned how to interact with people across cultures and share God’s love with them from staff in Cru’s Bridges International ministry as well as other international ministries. These mentors demonstrated how to effectively build relationships and show God’s love to people from all over the world.
As he graduated, the Lord led him to a prestigious university in the Middle East for graduate school. While studying, he took what he learned in college and made friends from around the world and was able to share the love of Jesus with many of them. Upon his return, he moved to Denver and began working for a non-profit that helps provide clean water for impoverished communities around the world.
He and his wife continue to love people well in the margins of society during their spare time. One of the largest marginalized groups in Denver is the Burmese refugees who have settled there. These refugees are smart and skilled; however, their skill set is not in demand in the United States. As a result, they are often trapped in a cycle of poverty, unable to get anything more than a minimum-wage job.
Marc and his wife are not willing to let this cycle continue, and they are tackling the problem one family at a time. They have befriended a Burmese family who has lived in Denver for 5 years, but has been unable to make it above the poverty line. Marc and his wife have become their friends and offer what they can. They help their friends’ children with their homework and inspire them to do well in school. They also spend time with them, loving them and caring for them as a family. Marc and his wife’s deep friendship with this Muslim family provides them countless opportunities to authentially discuss spiritual things.
Marc is living out 1 Thessalonians 2:8 where Paul writes, “Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well.” He is truly loving his neighbor as himself by giving of himself to this family.
Marc is a Sent One!
