You’re now knowledgeable about what to eat, how to exercise to care for your body, and the value of rest and sleep, so today we’ll focus on caring for your appearance.
One of the characteristics God has given you is your physical appearance.
The exterior of your “temple of the Holy Spirit” (1 Corinthians 6:19, New International Version) is important. Consider the quality and beauty of material and the skillfulness of workmanship that went into building God’s temple in Solomon’s time (1 Kings 5-7).
I know of many people who have become lax in taking care of their appearance, and as a result, they suffer from a tremendous lack of confidence and a corresponding depreciation in their abilities to function well with other people.
You can take care of your physical appearance and present yourself in the best way possible without becoming vain. This doesn’t mean you need to have designer clothes or lots of makeup, but you can put thought into your how you look.
People who are self-conscious about their appearance will find it more difficult to step out and aggressively minister for God.
Not only are we the “temple of the Holy Spirit,” but Ephesians 2:10 says “we are God’s masterpiece” (New Living Translation). Therefore, seek to honor and glorify God in your appearance just as you would seek to in other areas.
