Often we try to figure out who we are based on what others say, who our friends are, our appearance or what we have.
When we look for our value in outward things, our own abilities or accomplishments, we do things so that we can feel we have worth.
But the truth is you already have worth. God created you to know Him, to love Him and to love others.
When you start a relationship with God through Jesus, your identity is forever changed. He knows you, He sees you, He loves you and accepts you. You don’t have to work or strive for those things because you already have them.
But we don’t always know, or remember, what is true about us.
Because of Jesus, God says you are:
You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last …
God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation. … We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us.
For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things He planned for us long ago.
Because of Christ and our faith in Him, we can now come boldly and confidently into God’s presence.
For God knew His people in advance, and He chose them to become like His Son, so that His Son would be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.
Not only are you known, but you also belong, have purpose and are secure.
