As you're in the midst of planning for the school year, take a few minutes to consider I am Second (IA2) Groups.
The US Campus Ministry is testing I am Second to build local models and learn how these groups can strategically contribute to our outreach and movement launching.
Creating Spiritual Environments
Iamsecond.com/groups is a powerful and fruitful web-based ministry. Its strategic value is multiplied when it is tied to small groups of seekers.
On today's campuses, one of the most important evangelistic strategies is to create environments where spiritual conversations can happen freely and openly. This is one of the main strengths of IA2 groups. Incredible conversations happen weekly, and non-believers are excited to attend.
IA2 groups are founded on the CoJourners principle that everyone is on a spiritual journey. As they participate in these groups, students (both believers and non-believers) are asked to take faith steps each week: not only learning facts, but applying these truths to life and telling them to others.
Start a Group!
Starting an I am Second group is SIMPLE! IA2 groups are designed to be easy to start and easy to lead. What makes these groups so simple is that they use the power of the stories on iamsecond.com to start the conversation and a simple facilitation model for the leader. It goes like this.
Watch a video…read a Bible passage…ask six questions:
Doubtful this will work? It worked at Purdue University: last year, 65 IA2 groups were formed. 25% are new groups where people are breaking off and starting new groups.
