I love my electric toothbrush.
I love my Black and Decker dust-buster.
I love my cordless power drill (every girl needs one).
I love my Mac.
I love my iPad.
I love my iPod.
I love my iPhone. (I swear I’m not an undercover Apple employee, nor do I even think they’re the best - they just make good stuff!)
So what do they all have in common?
The other day I was brushing my teeth with my awesome electric toothbrush, when I noticed it wasn’t operating like I needed it to with the power to knock off the tartar and plaque that I try to keep from building on my pearly whites. Ew. Then I went to do a quick once-over on my bathroom floor with my handy dandy dust-buster. It couldn’t even pick up a hair.
Not sure how you are, but I know that there is no use in me even attempting to work out if I don’t have my ipod. So I was almost joyful the other day when I was about to get on my elliptical and realized my ipod was dead. Hee hee…no work out for me! Seriously…I walked away.
It seems that everything I “need” to make my life work on a day-to-day basis, requires a charge from another source of power.
When my toothbrush was slowly dying the other day, it was as if the Lord was gently reminding me, “Millie, when was the last time you plugged into me?” The “charge” from a good quiet time can seem to last for a few days. Or I can be guilty of justifying that spending time in the Word in a devo with my team “counts” as a spiritual “charge.”
As this is nearing the 5-6 week mark of the beginning of a new school year, I’m thinking most of us are in desperate need for a “re-charge.”
I’d say it’s the perfect time for a Day with the Lord. (And I’ve said it before: a ½ day? Really?)
And back to the basics could be helpful: spend time really digging into John 15:1-17.
Or here’s a great resource for a Day with the Lord :
But what do YOU do to re-charge? Please share so we can learn from each other!
Gotta go, my computer’s dying.
