So I wrote this article, “Made For Relationship.” It’s now on CruPress Green. I’m excited about it and hope it is helpful to many people. And by “people,” I mean guys AND girls. It does lean towards a female audience but there are relevant things for the fellas as well (which a guy friend told me!)
As I’ve received questions from staff since it was posted, I wanted to give a few helpful tips for how to make use of it. It’s really long (I had a lot to say). So I would break it into 3 bite-size chunks:
I’ve used this material in one-one-one conversations, small groups, and retreats. So here are some tips:
Relationship Cycle : Shows the bigger purpose of our relationships and why we need to be vulnerable…ultimately so that God’s kingdom grows. Talk through and show the cycle either on a Power Point or handout; have people figure out where they are in it and what needs to happen for them to take the next step.
Relational Water Sports : Compares water skiing, snorkeling, and scuba-diving to communication with others. Should provide a great discussion with a group or even one-on-one. Have them share which one(s) they tend to do the most and why they may not go for the depth!
Pillars & Pitfalls : This also has provided for some good conversation about key elements of friendships. Just bringing these things into awareness has been a positive experience.
I have included questions at the end of the article so they may be helpful, too.
My biggest desire is to glorify the Lord by getting these thoughts out of my head and into peoples’ lives so they can glorify Him, too!
So go ahead. Read the article and think of ways you can utilize it in discipleship. Then let me know how it goes in the comments section. I'd love to hear how you use it!
