About Us

FamilyLife® is the global, non-profit leader in marriage conferences having reached more than 2 million people through various FamilyLife events since the organization’s inception. Co-founded in 1976 by Dennis and Barbara Rainey, FamilyLife’s mission is to change the world one home at a time by building healthier marriages and families through the practical application of time-tested techniques and teachings based on biblical principles.

Operating in over 100 countries around the world, FamilyLife leverages a volunteer network of more than 10,000 couples globally, to effectively communicate its message of strengthening marriages and changing the world, one home at a time. Locally, FamilyLife T&T with its core team of 12 couples, provides key resources to positively impact family life in Trinidad and Tobago; and has hosted the “Weekend to Remember” marriage conference annually since 1999, which continues to bring hope and restoration to many marriages. Our arsenal of resources in the form of workshops, support groups, DVD based teachings, books and much more, spans the spectrum of family life topics.

FamilyLife experts have devoted their lives bringing timeless principles to people in ways that positively change their lives. Through the guidance of our experts and with the help of our volunteers, FamilyLife has developed into a vibrant and visionary organization that is today changing the world one home at a time.

Youth Strategy

Our Life at the CrossRoads programme is an HIV intervention strategy and Character development programme, designed to assist youth between 11-16yrs to make wise choices. We have implemented it in all secondary schools in Tobago (funded by THA), and in approximately 10 schools in Trinidad.

CrossRoads is a highly interactive program created by educational, medical and youth services professionals. The curriculum, which teaches life skills and character development, can be presented during an average school year. CrossRoads presents a unique risk-avoidance message. The main reason HIV and STDs continue to thrive across the globe is because people make poor choices and engage in high-risk behaviour. They need strong character and the ability to make good choices in order to most effectively avoid the devastation that the disease brings. The CrossRoads strategy, by emphasising healthy relationships, systematically helps youth build good character, so they can avoid whatever high-risk behaviours they might face.

Although CrossRoads is used most often as a direct response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic, its focus on character and life skills development has also made it an effective solution to other societal crises, such as violence, drug abuse, teen pregnancy and joblessness.

Our History

The FamilyLife ministry was started in Trinidad and Tobago by Steve and Cecile Mohamed in 1999. It is currently headed by Russel and Joelle Aching.
