Some Interesting Facts

 

Trinidad & Tobago, with a population of roughly 1.5 million, has:

  • 1.21 million people who use the internet (79% of total population)
  • 1.93 million cellular mobile connections (NB. users can have more than one cellular phone)
  • 1 million social media users
  • There has been a rapid increase in social media platform usage since 2020. This is primarily because of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. 
  • Between 2020 and 2021, the number of people using social media increased by 80,000 (9.3% of the total population) in Trinidad and Tobago.
  • Between 2021 and 2022, the number of people using social media increased by 161,000 (17.1% of the total population) in Trinidad and Tobago.

Globally, there are:

  • 5.18 billion people internet users
  • 4.8 billion people social media users
  • On average, people spend 7 hrs per day on their screens and devices.

From the above, it can be seen that the use of digital tools and platforms is commonplace in Trinidad & Tobago. Using the internet and social media forms a part of everyday life for the average Trinibagonian. 

Digital Strategies ministry in Trinidad & Tobago began in 2020. Alongside the Global Church Movement arm of Cru, the ministry continues to play an integral role in providing training digital evangelism to scores of Christians across Trinidad & Tobago and the Caribbean.
