Urban Immersion™ - Inner City

Urban Immersion™ Orlando

Share the Good News. Serve the Poor.

Orlando will host the following in 2020:

March 07–13 Click here to register.
March 14–20 Click here to register.

All weeks run Saturday evening through Thursday evening, with optional Friday for a theme park or beach.

We encourage groups to arrive by Saturday evening so that we can go to special church services in the morning and leave either Friday or Saturday morning, depending on if the group takes a "play day" in Orlando, which is on their own time and expense. There will be outreaches, events, and training on Sunday–Wednesday with tours of Cru and Wycliffe on Thursday.

Depending on the week, you could be helping to run children's programs, working with homeless or almost homeless, working with prisoner's families or released prisoners, working to help an agency that helps at-risk folks, doing some evangelism, or doing some actual labor, e.g., painting or fixing up a building.

There will also be training on God's heart for the poor and other spiritual concepts. We are willing to host one, two, or three weeks during the spring. We are flexible and will accommodate YOUR Spring Break, if we can. Of course, the spring is when everyone else wants to be in Orlando, too, so the cost of housing does go up during that time.

$350

This includes all meals and housing costs. A $50 non-refundable, but transferable, deposit per person reserves a place for you at Urban Immersion.

Registration:

Space for each week is limited. Registrations are confirmed on a first-come, first-served basis. No individual registration, but only in appropriate groups with chaperones.

Housing:

You will stay at Canterbury Retreat Center in Oviedo. Participants will sleep on beds (some are bunk beds) and have roommates. No need to bring bedding, but bring towels and toiletries.

Having at least one car per 5 participants is helpful.

You will need a Bible, a notepad, toiletries, towels. Bring casual clothing, work clothing, and an outfit for services at a formal ethnic church. Cards or games. Students are more than welcome to bring musical instruments and music for worship times. When packing for the week, remember that you will be staying in close quarters and space will be limited.
