Jim Tressel, head football coach of The Ohio State Buckeyes, and Jennifer "Jenny" Johnson Jordan, professional volleyball player and Olympian, were inducted into the Athletes in Action Hall of Faith on May 6 during the 5th annual Night of Champions event.

This award is presented to 1 man and 1 woman from the world of sports who best exemplify outstanding character, integrity, and faith -- whether on the field of competition, in the home, or in the community.

“We chose to induct Coach Tressel because of how he carries himself on and off the field, in victory or in defeat,” says AIA’s Dave Lower. “He continues to live a life of high character, faith, and an unshakable consistency in these areas along with having a very mature sense of leadership and personal responsibility. He is a true role model for his athletes and other coaches in every way and has a consistent walk with the Lord.” Read more about Coach Tressel's story.

Dave Lower continues, “We chose to induct Jenny Johnson Jordan into the Athletes in Action Hall of Faith because of her great character, faith, and leadership, which is caught by those she competes against. She is planting many spiritual seeds around her. As a result, she has a tremendous reputation in her sport.” Read more about Jenny's story.

Others inducted into the Hall of Faith include Anthony Muñoz, the late Kay Yow, John Wooden, Madeline Manning Mims, Bart Starr, Leah O’Brien-Amico, John Peterson, and Ruth Riley.

Night of Champions is part of the Sports Legend Series that includes the Super Bowl Breakfast (Super Bowl Weekend, Miami, Florida); Legends of the Hardwood Breakfast (NCAA Final Four, Indianapolis, Indiana); and the All-Star Breakfast (NBA All-Star Weekend, Dallas, Texas).

The Night of Champions event was held at Athletes in Action’s headquarters in Xenia, Ohio.
