Pray

Everything starts with prayer.

Pray For Yourself
First, pray for yourself that God would give you power by his Spirit to be his witness (Acts 1:8). Since he has promised to empower, you can be confident he will answer this prayer (1 John 5:14-15).

Identify Others to Pray For
Who should you pray for?

  1. Pray for People you Know
God has uniquely connected you with the people in your life. Ask him for the names of a couple people you could help to explore who he is.
  2. Pray for People you Meet
You often encounter new people everyday. Ask God to make you aware of the opportunities to represent Jesus as you go about your day.
  3. Pray for Others
There are people outside your normal circles to whom God may send you. Ask God to show you if there are people he wants you to take the initiative to speak with.

Challenge: Pray for 5 people in your life to know Jesus. Pray and ask God to show you specific people to include on your list, and write them down.

Some Things to Pray

  • Pray that God would open doors for spiritual conversations (Colossians 4:3).
  • Pray that God would give you the words to speak clearly as you engage with your friends and new acquaintances (Colossians 4:4).
  • Ask God to help you make the most of these opportunities (Colossians 4:5).
  • Ask God to enable you to respond to their need and interest with grace and truth (Colossians 4:6).
