Running a page for multiple movements: How to decide between having multiple accounts (each of your campuses will have it’s own instagram account) or having one account (you will have one umbrella instagram account that represents all your campuses in your scope): - How many schools will you focus on digitally? How much time do you have? Do you have help? Are you launching or is this for an existing movement?
One Account: - Only creating posts and stories to one account
- Need to stay organized with Highlights, DMs, and any campus-specific posts
- Create content that’s relevant to all of your campuses
- Better for launching at places where you’re not an official org yet
- So that you call fall under the umbrella of a broader ministry/organization
Multiple Accounts: - Need to create and post to multiple accounts. More manageable if you have help with this.
- Less confusing with campus-specific updates and in DMs
- Might need multiple if you cross state lines, unless you have a general metro name that applies to your full scope
One account Questions: - How do I not leave campuses out?
- Use hashtags from all your universities
- Feature students from different universities
- Campus specific highlight reels
- What about my bio?
- Use your bio to describe what you offer: what do you do? What are you known for?
- Then say “on college campuses in the _____ area”
- What do I name my handle?
- City name or metro name + Cru (charlottemetrocru)
- Then also make it clear in your bio what area you serve/represent
- How to get photos when you’re not on that campus physically?
- Have students send in pics or videos
- Use generic photos from a different campus
- Use stock photos
Launching at new schools digitally: - Keep doing what you’ve always been doing: posting content, posting stories, engaging with students in Dms and comments
- What’s changing: you’re now reaching out to more schools than what you are currently doing through your account. Ex: currently engaging with 5, now you’re adding 2 more for a total of 7.
- New schools:
- Give yourself a time boundary and be okay if you don’t have fruit when the time is up (launch for a semester, 6 weeks, a full year)
- In this boundary you’re: finding pages connected to that school, following students, and then when they follow you back you’re messaging them and seeing where it goes at that new school
- Let yourself be a learner. Trust God to move in these spheres, and then see what happens.
- Evaluate next steps once your time boundary is up
- Do you continue investing time launching here or do you move on (for now) to another campus in your scope to launch there?
