Social Media Responsibility Description

Social media priorities by hours

Tips to help in your role

  1.  Submission Form: Create a submission form for items that need to be posted.
    1. You can set the time of how early in advance it needs to be submitted. (I usually say two weeks so you have time to design the post and put it in your schedule.)
    2. This form should include..
      1. What is the event for? The problem it will solve for a student.
      2. When and where is the event?
    3. Share the vision behind this form. We don’t want to post about events at the last minute just to say we posted, we want to accurately showcase how the event will be a delight and not spam to students. If you can’t do this well, then students may not come. If your team can’t answer a question of how the event will do this, then they need to go back to the drawing board.
  1. Set Boundaries: Set boundaries around the social page that will allow you to have clarity in your role
    1. Examples: Have clear conversations about the role every person plays on the social team
    2. Define who can post, when and if you need to know before something is posted
    3. Define who checks messages and if messages should be marked unread if you haven’t seen them.
  1. A Team Effort: Ask for Marketing/Social media minutes in every staff meeting so you can share what you need from the team.
    1. Photos from campus/ of students they’re meeting.
    2. Work through event specifics with your team so you can start planning content.
    3. Share trends you’ve noticed on social media and how they influence your students
    4. Share a new marketing principle you’ve learned
    5. Communicate extra time you’ll be spending to complete social media content
    6. Bring up frustrations that you experience

Reflection Report

Tips for what to include:

  • The most important and compelling things to reflect on and note are how God moved through your social media platform. What conversations did you have with students? What questions did students respond to? What spiritual needs of students did you discover? Any spiritual conversations, Gospel shares, etc.
    • God is working through our social media. Let’s recognize all he’s doing (the big and the small) and share that with our team to celebrate!
  • Other numbers to note/look back on
    • Post likes
    • Post shares
    • Post saves
    • How many followers did you start the semester with? How many do you have now?
    • Any conversations in the comments
    • Story interactions
  • Consider doing a digital presentation to share with your team
    • Screen shot some examples of posts or stories that resonated with students
    • Screen shot some DM conversations
    • Share a couple stories of how you saw God at work on Social Media this semester
    • Thank your team for their help and contribution as well
  • Use what you learned from your report to help you plan your social media strategy for next semester
