What is the love they want you to have?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scripture to Study<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>For this is the message that you have heard from the beginning, that we should love one another. We should not be like Cain, who was of the evil one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his own deeds were evil and his brother\u2019s righteous. Do not be surprised, brothers, that the world hates you. We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Whoever does not love abides in death. Everyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. But if anyone has the world\u2019s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God\u2019s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth. (1 John 3:11\u201318 ESV)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wise Words to Consider<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI feel like my calling truly is loving people and loving what God has given us. And it feels like a big calling or it feels maybe too general but I am taking and running with it because God put something in my life that I have been viewing as a chance to love people.\u201d\u2014Christian Serge<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Prayer to Lead You<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Gracious Father, You desire that we love the people you have brought into our lives. Gives us the grace and strength to respect the dignity of every person that we meet. Open our hearts to love others according to what they can understand and receive and not according to what feels easiest, most natural or most comfortable to us. We ask for your grace in the name of Jesus Christ our merciful savior, amen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Practice to Begin<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Prayer of Examen is a helpful practice to become more reflective and discern what God is doing in your life.At the end of your day, take a few moments to spend with God. Ask yourself two questions: first, \u201cHow has God demonstrated his kindness or love through the people in my life?\u201d Second, \u201cWhere has God given me opportunities to love others today?\u201d Thank God for whatever you learn in that moment. Reflect on the love of God before ending your time of reflection and prayer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Questions to Answer<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Christian Serge shares how he and his wife bought a home in a majority Mexican community because of the kindness and generosity of the people that would become his neighbors. As a white family, they have found a community that embraces them and shows them the world from a different perspective. Who are the neighbors who are different from you, who might be inviting you to join their community and see the world with different eyes?
