Who are the people that God has placed you among, the people you see everyday, and the people who live right down the street from you? What might it look like to love them in some small way?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Scripture to Study<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>And one of the scribes came up and heard them disputing with one another, and seeing that he answered them well, asked him, \u201cWhich commandment is the most important of all?\u201d Jesus answered, \u201cThe most important is, \u2018Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.\u2019 The second is this: \u2018You shall love your neighbor as yourself.\u2019 There is no other commandment greater than these.\u201d And the scribe said to him, \u201cYou are right, Teacher. You have truly said that he is one, and there is no other besides him. And to love him with all the heart and with all the understanding and with all the strength, and to love one\u2019s neighbor as oneself, is much more than all whole burnt offerings and sacrifices.\u201d And when Jesus saw that he answered wisely, he said to him, \u201cYou are not far from the kingdom of God.\u201d And after that no one dared to ask him any more questions. (Mark 12:28\u201334)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Wise Words to Consider<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNeighboring is really embracing the ordinary. Whatever your context, wherever you live, if you embrace the rootedness and the fruit that comes overtime in relationships\u2014that are built after years\u2014there is a monotony that comes with that.\u201d\u2014Elizabeth Mckinney<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Prayer to Lead You<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Gracious Father, you invite us to reimagine what it means to love our neighbors, to consider the people you have already placed in our path and planted us among. Let us embrace the rootedness of our situation and consider how we might create a place of belonging within our community where the ordinariness of our lives might bear fruit that will last. We pray this in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit who lives and reigns forever and ever.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A Practice to Begin<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Neighboring can be hard. It\u2019s important to have an honest estimation of yourself, your limitations, and healthy boundaries, but loving your neighbors will be rewarding work. Where you seek to show love, you will find yourself loved. Where you strive to bless others, you will find yourself blessed. Consider taking the time to have a conversation with the people next door. Linger a little longer than you normally would and consider what God might do. Consider what small act of kindness you can show to someone in your community. It may not seem like much, but small acts of kindness like smiles, waves, and hellos can create opportunities for the Holy Spirit to lead you to begin a life-changing journey with your neighbors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Questions to Answer<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Think about your neighbors. What&#8217;s one small act of kindness you could engage in with just one of them in the next week? When was a time that one of your neighbors reached out and it meant the world to you?
