You will be serving in one of these two strategic cities.

Bratislava is a historic city perched on the banks of the Danube River. It is a member of the European Union, located on the western edge of formerly communist Eastern Europe (50 miles east of Vienna, Austria). Bratislava has a total population of half a million people and is home to the countries premier universities. There are over 60,000 students studying in 5+ universities in Bratislava. Along with the university students there are 26,000 high school students who help to make Bratislava a vibrant city. Students comprise nearly 18% of Bratislava’s overall population. Their presence is felt everywhere in Slovakia’s capital. Walking through any part of Bratislava one senses a city that’s abuzz with student-driven activity. It’s clearly a place where we could expect to find fertile soil for a student movement.

Košice is a city in eastern Slovakia, close to the Hungarian border. Its origins go back to the medieval period, and the central Lower Gate archaeological complex preserves fortifications from the 13th century. Košice is the second university town in Slovakia, after Bratislava. The Technical University of Košice is its largest university, with 16,015 students, including 867 doctoral students. A second major university is the Pavol Jozef Šafárik University, with 7,403 students, including 527 doctoral students. Both the capital and Košice are strategic for targeting students as the future leaders of Slovakia.
