Words are powerful.

They seem so small, so insignificant, and yet the words people say often stick with us. An off-handed compliment can be a light for someone in a dark place. A sharp critique may fester insecurities and self-defeat.

We can learn to speak like Jesus.

Maybe he will ask us to speak about our experience of him. Maybe he will tell us to say, “I’m sorry,” or “You’re forgiven.” Maybe he will instruct us to share words of encouragement, or to speak up against evil. More than once, he’ll tell us to say, “You are loved.”

We might be excited or nervous, happy or scared, shy or outspoken, but the question is whether we will say the words he is asking us to say.
Take a few minutes to reflect on what you feel Jesus is calling you to SAY.
