One Baylor athlete described it this way: “Best and most life-changing weekend of my life!”

The Ultimate Training Camp was an overwhelming success at Baylor University this inaugural summer, according to AIA staff member and Baylor Sports Chaplain, Cindy White. Thanks to the coordinated effort between Baylor Athletics, Truett Seminary Sports Chaplaincy (led by former AIA staff, John White) and Athletes in Action, the UTC was used to help athletes, coaches, volunteers and seminary students integrate Christian faith in competitive sport. Even Baylor’s Recreation Department wants to learn how to implement the principles from UTC.

“The athletes ended up changed and challenged!” White says. “Approximately 70 came to everything and went through the S.P.E.C.I.A.L., and about 180 came to the [talk on relationships and sex], as they were encouraged to invite friends. It is our hope that this type of integration will bleed into the athletes’ lives on the field, into the classroom, their relationships and their vocation for a lifetime.”

The comments and tweets by the students reveal some of what God did through the first-ever UTC on a top-tier campus:

“Can't believe what God has done in my life the past 3 days, can't thank @AIAUTC enough! #godisgoodallthetime.”

“Awesome weekend glorifying God and pushing through pain with my @BaylorAthletics family. Special thanks to @AIAUTC for coming out to Baylor!”

“God's love, strength, power, grace, and mercy is UNPARALLELED!! Nooo one can do for me what He did today. @AIAUTC, thank you all for coming.”

“Huge S/O to @AIAUTC for bringing their camp to Baylor this weekend. I got to experience God through sports in ways that I never imagined.”

AIA plans to bring the camp back to Baylor again next summer and continues to expand the vision and partnership.
