Dirty Cars and Neon Posters
Monday, June 30
Students waving neon pink and yellow "FREE CAR WASH" posters attracted a steady stream of dirty cars on Saturday.
Many of the Chicagoans who got their car washed for free also returned home knowing more about Jesus and His love.
How It All Played Out
On Saturday the Chicago Summer Project joined with another summer project here in Chicago to wash cars and talk to people about Jesus.
Here's Life Inner City's project, called Summer in the City, planned a free car wash at their ministry building, the Agape Center.
Students and staff members spent the afternoon washing and drying cars. While people waited for their cars to be cleaned, another group talked with them about why they would give their day to wash cars.
Why in the World?
The reason behind their actions was the love of Christ. Washing the cars was a physical expression of Christ's love. Several students and staff members had great conversations.
Doug, a student who attends Cleveland State University, had a chance to speak with a girl and her uncle. When they approached Doug, he was holding an evangelistic booklet "Would You Like to Know God Personally?"
They asked about the book and Doug had the chance to read through it with the girl. She had never before heard of Christ's personal love for her.
Although she came for the free car wash she left with an eager excitement to know the God of love.
Students like Doug (above) used evangelistic booklets to talk with people at the car wash about Jesus Christ.
